Best Mattress For Lower Back Pain

Recently I stumbled upon a question and answer website on Internet. In this website a worried bed user asked for a response about the following questions.

“I’ve got a horrrible pain in the lower back area. This pains only seems to emerge and agravate when I lie down. In other words, when I go to sleep I feel ok but when I get up I feel as though I’ve been run over by a truck and the area in my lower back feels crushed. My current bed is a Sealy Pillow Top (about 7 years old) and I guess I need a new mattress but there are so many beds available… help! Here are a few of his  questions.”
  1. 1.- What is the best mattress brand for back pain?
  2. 2.- Is an extra firm bed the best option form my problem? If not, what type do you recommend?
  3. 3.- Is it ok to buy Mattresses on line? What sites are best?
  4. 4.- Has anybody tried any mattress or beds from IKEA?
  5. 5.- Are memory foam beds good?

I know that this website is about sleep number beds, but  I honestly think that this kind of mattress is definitively the best option for a lower back pain, although I know this is a very personal thing. Every person is different so you will have to try them out to determine which one is best for you. For example, memory foam mattress is a good option for lower back pain, but only if you choose a very thick memory foam bed.

I probably wouldn’t buy a bed from IKEA if you have a low back pain. They are really cheap but they are not high quality. For a normal use they are OK, but if you have back problems avoid them!

The best way to test any kind of mattress  to see if it’s going to support your back is to lie down on your back for a while then try sliding your hand under the small of your back. Don’t roll up or anything like that. Just lie flat and try to slide your hand between the mattress and the small of your back.

The more difficult it is to slide your hand in there, the better support you’re getting from that mattress. You’re much less likely to wake up with a back ache.

Is it ok to buy Mattresses on line? What sites are best?

The best solution to purchase any kind of mattress is to apply my proven 4 step method.

  1. 1.- Research online for more and detailed information about your resting needs.
  2. 2.- Test the 2-3 preselected beds at the dealer nearest to you.
  3. 3.- Chose your preferred bed and search for the best price online.
  4. 4.- With this price check it out at the nearest dealer if they can match or improve the offer.
